Faith Over Feelings: Anchoring Yourself When Life Shakes You
Have you ever had one of those days where your emotions are running the show like they just drank a double espresso and grabbed the mic? One minute you’re up, the next you’re in your feelings so deep that Drake would be proud. Trust me, I get it. Life has a funny way of shaking us—unexpected bills, relationships that test our patience, doors closing when we thought they were wide open.
But here’s the truth bomb: feelings are real, but they’re not always right.
That’s why we need an anchor. Something (or Someone) unshakable when everything else feels like it’s falling apart. And that’s where faith steps in like the ultimate MVP.
When the Storm Hits…
Feelings are like waves—high, low, and sometimes crashing without warning. But faith? Faith is the anchor that says, “I’m not moving, even if everything around me is.”
When life shakes you, it’s tempting to respond based on how you feel:
-
“I feel unworthy.”
-
“I feel forgotten.”
-
“I feel like giving up.”
But faith flips the script:
-
“I am chosen.”
-
“I am never alone.”
-
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Faith Isn’t a Feeling—It’s a Focus
Faith says, “I choose to believe even when I don’t see it yet.” It’s deciding to trust God’s track record over your current situation.
It’s like driving through a foggy road. Just because you can’t see the destination doesn’t mean it’s not there. You just keep moving forward, headlights on, trusting the path will clear.
Spoiler alert: God’s still God, even on the days you don’t feel strong.
Pause, Pray, Pivot
When you’re overwhelmed:
-
Pause – Take a breath. Step back from the chaos.
-
Pray – Even if it’s just “God, I need You right now.”
-
Pivot – Shift your focus from fear to faith, from feelings to truth.
Sometimes, the most powerful prayer is, “Lord, help me see beyond what I feel.”
Let’s Keep It Real…
You’re human. You’ll feel things deeply. That’s not weakness—it’s proof you’re alive and learning. But feelings make a terrible compass. Let faith lead, and feelings will follow.
So the next time life tries to knock you off course, whisper to your heart:
“My feelings may be loud, but my faith is louder.”
What’s one situation you’re facing right now that’s got your emotions stirred up? Write it down. Then, write this beside it:
“I will not be shaken. I choose faith over feelings.”
Say it. Believe it. Anchor yourself.
Faith doesn’t mean life stops shaking. It means you don’t have to shake it. Stand tall, friend. Anchor deep. God’s got you—even when your emotions try to tell you otherwise.
You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are anchored.
