Love, Life & Starting Over: A Soul Check Through The Four Agreements

by Jacqueline Edwards | MedXpressionz

Sometimes love breaks us open, but life rebuilds us stronger. Sometimes the start of a beautiful new chapter comes wrapped in pain, silence, or lessons we didn’t ask for. Whether you’re picking up the pieces from heartbreak, walking away from the wrong crowd, or simply reinventing yourself and this moment is your mirror.

But let’s be real.

When you’re fed up but not fully healed, it’s easy to become guarded.

You confuse self-respect with arrogance.

You stop expecting softness.

And deep down, you stop expecting you to be loved for real.

So how do you start again when the fire burned through your hope?

You reset, with truth, accountability, and love for yourself first.

You remember what Don Miguel Ruiz shared in The Four Agreements:

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak to yourself kindly.

Speak life over your new beginning.

Let your words water your healing instead of drowning you in doubt.

What lies have you told yourself about your worth? Rewrite them as truths.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally

Sometimes people can’t give what they never received.

Their betrayal? Not your reflection.

Their silence? Not your responsibility.

Think of one moment that hurt you deeply.

Now ask: “What did this really say about them, and not me?”

3. Don’t Make Assumptions

Assuming delays healing.

Ask the questions you were afraid to.

Get clarity, even if it’s just from yourself.

What story have you been telling yourself about why they left?

Now write a new one that sets you free.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best will look different when you’re grieving, glowing, or growing.

But doing your best means you keep showing up.

For your goals. For your peace. For your next chapter.

What is “your best” today? Honor that. No shame. No comparison.

Now Let’s Talk About Arrogance vs. Assurance

Starting over doesn’t require arrogance but it requires authenticity.

You don’t need to harden up; you need to heal forward.

It’s okay to walk into the room like you belong there, because you do.

It’s not pride, it’s promise.

And it’s not ego, it’s evidence of everything you’ve overcome.
