The Man Who Positively Impacted My Life
Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.
When asked to describe a man who has positively impacted my life, my first instinct was to pause.
Not because I lack examples but because the word impact carries weight.
I have been blessed with men who have loved me well.
My brother Myk.
Uncle Robert.
Ruben.
My mentor, Como.
Isaiah.
Alonzo.
Each of them showed up in meaningful ways. Each played a role in my life that I value deeply. Their presence mattered, and still does. I love them for who they are and for what they poured into me.
But when I think about impact the kind that doesn’t just support you, but shakes you, I’m talking about something different.
I’m talking about a presence so profound that it rearranges your inner world.
A force that devastates old thinking, confronts you at your core, and forces growth you didn’t ask for but desperately needed.
The kind of impact that disrupts your comfort, challenges your identity, and expands your mind beyond what you thought you could hold.
By that definition, there is only one answer for me.
Jesus Christ.
Not as a distant figure.
Not as a concept.
But as a lived, ongoing encounter.
His impact didn’t just comfort me it corrected me.
It didn’t just heal me. it exposed me.
It didn’t just save me
it stretched me, sometimes painfully, always purposefully.
That kind of impact changes how you think, how you love, how you endure, and how you see yourself when everything familiar falls apart. It shakes your soul and sharpens your mind at the same time.
I am grateful for the men who walked alongside me.
But Jesus is the one who walked through me while breaking, rebuilding, and redefining who I am and how I move through this world.
That is impact.
And it continues.
