Do I play in my daily life? What does playtime look like for me?

Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

My version of play is purpose-aligned. It shows up in moments where I allow myself to create, explore, and breathe without guilt.

I “play” when I write freely blogging, journaling, or shaping words into meaning without needing them to perform. I play when I build something from scratch, whether that’s a new idea, a program, a planner, or a vision that did not exist before. Creation is play for me.

Playtime also shows up in learning without pressure researching topics that feed my curiosity, not just my obligations. It’s present when I sit in reflection, faith, or meditation, letting my mind wander and reset instead of constantly producing.

I do not separate play from productivity the way society often defines it. For me, play is restorative, not reckless. It is how I regulate myself after carrying responsibility, leadership, and emotional weight for others.

When I neglect play, I feel it immediately burnout, irritability, and disconnection. When I honor it, I feel grounded, creative, and clear.

So yes, I do play in my daily life but my play is intentional. It is quiet, thoughtful, creative, and deeply tied to who I am. Playtime for me is not about doing less; it is about being more present in what nourishes me.
