I know this is a long blog, if you rather listen subscribe to my podcast.
Well… apparently these cards have decided we’re doing a whole SERIES on my business. 😂
First, we’re talking about receiving love.
Then we’re talking about boundaries.
I declare that I’m entering my season of NO.
And now today’s card says:
“What if I let go of relationships that no longer serve me?”
Okay.
Message received. 😂🙏🏽
But here’s what’s interesting…
Since I’ve started letting go, I feel LIGHTER.
Not angry.
Not bitter.
Not sitting around plotting anybody’s downfall.
Just…
lighter.
And that made me think:
Maybe letting go isn’t always about somebody being a terrible person.
Maybe sometimes it’s simply recognizing:
“This relationship has reached its NO LONGER.”
No longer healthy.
No longer reciprocal.
No longer peaceful.
No longer aligned.
No longer a place where I can be myself.
No longer something I’m supposed to keep carrying simply because I’ve carried it for a long time.
💭 BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT’S “NO LONGER” TIME?
That’s the question.
Because every relationship has difficult seasons.
People make mistakes.
We disappoint each other.
We misunderstand each other.
So one bad day doesn’t automatically mean:
BLOCKED! DELETED! GOODBYE! 😂😂😂
That’s not growth either.
I’m learning to stop diagnosing relationships based on moments and start evaluating them based on patterns.
🩺 THE MEDXPRESSIONZ RELATIONSHIP CHECKUP 😂
Before I decide something has reached its no longer, I’m learning to ask myself:
1. Is this a bad moment—or a repeated pattern?
Everybody deserves grace.
But when the apology changes and the behavior doesn’t?
👀
That’s information.
2. Is there reciprocity?
Am I always calling?
Always checking?
Always giving?
Always forgiving?
Always understanding?
Always making accommodations?
If I stopped doing all the work…
Would there still be a relationship?
Whew.
3. Can I say NO and still be respected?
Yesterday’s lesson comes right back.
If my boundary causes someone to punish me, manipulate me, guilt me, or withdraw affection…
Maybe the relationship wasn’t built on love as much as it was built on access.
4. How do I consistently feel after interacting with this person?
Supported?
Seen?
Safe?
Encouraged?
Or constantly drained, anxious, guilty, confused, disrespected, or depleted?
One interaction doesn’t tell the whole story.
But patterns tell stories.
5. Have I communicated the problem?
This one matters.
People aren’t mind readers.
Before I decide somebody “should’ve known,” I have to ask:
Did I actually tell them?
Healthy relationships deserve healthy communication.
6. When I communicate, does anything change?
Not:
Did they apologize?
Did they cry?
Did they promise?
Did they give me a beautiful speech?
Did the BEHAVIOR change?
Because eventually I have to stop falling in love with apologies and start paying attention to patterns.
🔥
7. Am I staying because I love the relationship—or because I’m afraid to let it go?
History can keep us connected to things that our present has already outgrown.
“But we’ve known each other forever.”
“But that’s family.”
“But I love them.”
“But we’ve been through so much.”
All of those things can be true.
And something else can also be true:
This relationship may no longer be healthy for me.
❤️ LETTING GO DOESN’T ALWAYS REQUIRE HATE
This may be my biggest lesson.
I don’t have to make somebody a villain to release them.
Read that again.
I DON’T HAVE TO MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON TO DECIDE YOU NO LONGER BELONG IN THIS PARTICULAR SPACE IN MY LIFE.
I can appreciate what we had.
I can remember the good.
I can acknowledge what you taught me.
I can forgive.
I can pray for you.
I can genuinely wish you well.
And still say:
“This is where I get off.”
🚏😂
Sometimes closure isn’t a dramatic conversation.
Sometimes closure is simply accepting what the pattern has already shown you.
🧹 AND LETTING GO DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN CUTTING SOMEBODY OFF
This is important too.
Some relationships don’t need termination.
They need reclassification.
👀
Everybody doesn’t need front-row access.
Some people move from:
Inner circle → acquaintance.
Daily conversation → occasional check-in.
Business partner → professional contact.
Confidant → somebody I care about but don’t confide in.
And some relationships really do need to end.
Wisdom is knowing the difference.
✨ THE 4 R’s OF LETTING GO
Here’s today’s MedXpressionz tool:
RECOGNIZE. REFLECT. RECLASSIFY. RELEASE.
RECOGNIZE the pattern.
Stop explaining away what keeps happening.
REFLECT on your part.
What did I allow?
What did I communicate?
What can I learn?
RECLASSIFY when appropriate.
Maybe this person doesn’t need to disappear—they simply need a different level of access.
And finally…
RELEASE.
Not with revenge.
Not with a Facebook subliminal. 👀😂
Not with twenty-seven paragraphs explaining why you’re done.
Sometimes release sounds like:
“I appreciate what this relationship was, but I’m accepting what it is now.”
And then you move forward.
💕 TODAY’S MEDXPRESSIONZ CHALLENGE
Don’t immediately start making a list of people to cut off. 😂
Instead, choose one relationship and ask:
What does the PATTERN tell me?
Then finish these sentences:
This relationship gives me __________.
This relationship costs me __________.
I have communicated __________.
The pattern I continue seeing is __________.
The boundary I need is __________.
And finally:
Does this relationship need REPAIR, RECLASSIFICATION, or RELEASE?
That’s the diagnosis.
Not:
“Are they a bad person?”
But:
“Is this relationship healthy in its current form?”
There’s a difference.
🌱 AND MAYBE THAT’S WHY I FEEL LIGHTER
I’m realizing I don’t have to carry every relationship into every chapter.
Some people were part of the lesson.
Some were part of the healing.
Some were part of the journey.
Some will walk into the next chapter with me.
And some won’t.
That doesn’t erase what they meant to me.
It simply means I’ve stopped forcing expired relationships to occupy current spaces.
And whew…
There is PEACE in that.
So today’s What If? is:
✨ WHAT IF LETTING GO ISN’T LOSING SOMEBODY—WHAT IF IT’S MAKING ROOM FOR THE RELATIONSHIPS THAT FIT WHO I’M BECOMING?
I don’t need anger to release.
I don’t need hate to move forward.
I don’t even need everybody to understand my decision.
Sometimes I just need enough wisdom to recognize:
“Thank you for the chapter. But you don’t automatically get a role in the sequel.” 😂📖❤️
And if letting go makes my spirit lighter?
Maybe that’s information too.
